Trenchless Lining FAQs
Do you camera-inspect before lining?

Always. We clean and inspect the line first to confirm the pipe is a lining candidate, identify the extent of damage, and locate service connections that must be reinstated afterward. Quoting a lining job without seeing inside the pipe would be guessing, and we will not do it.

Will lining fix my root problem permanently?

It addresses the cause rather than the symptom. Roots enter through joints and cracks; a seamless liner removes those openings along the lined section, so roots have nowhere to get in. That is a genuine fix rather than the repeated cutting that rooting alone requires — provided the whole affected run is lined.

How long does a liner last?

Manufacturers generally rate CIPP liners for a service life measured in decades, comparable to new pipe. Because the liner is seamless and corrosion resistant, the failure modes that took out the original pipe — joint separation, root intrusion, corrosion — largely do not apply. Actual life depends on installation quality and what the line carries.

How long does lining take?

Most residential sewer lining jobs are completed in one day, including cleaning and camera inspection beforehand, liner installation and curing, and a verification inspection afterward. You will typically be asked not to use water in the building during the cure window, which we tell you in advance.

When is lining not the right choice?

When the host pipe is collapsed, severely deformed, or badly out of alignment, when there is a significant belly (a low spot that holds water), or where offsets are too large for the liner to bridge. Lining rebuilds a pipe; it does not correct grade. A camera inspection tells us which situation you have before anything is quoted.

Is a lined pipe as good as a new one?

For most failure modes, yes — a properly installed liner is jointless, which removes the very thing roots exploit, and it is corrosion resistant. The trade-off is a slight reduction in internal diameter, which is normally insignificant relative to the flow restored by removing roots and scale. Lining is not appropriate for a fully collapsed pipe.

What is cured-in-place pipe lining?

A resin-saturated liner is inserted into the existing pipe and cured in place, forming a new seamless pipe within the old one. It seals cracks, separated joints, and root intrusion points without excavating the line. The result is effectively a new pipe along the same path, installed through existing access points.

What is trenchless sewer lining, and how does it work?

Trenchless sewer lining is a no-dig method that rehabilitates damaged sewer pipes without the need for extensive excavation. Gold Seal Plumbing utilizes the LightRay UV cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) system, where a resin-soaked liner is inserted into the existing pipe and cured using UV light. This process restores the pipe's integrity in just a few hours, minimizing disruption to your property.

What are the benefits of using LightRay UV technology for sewer repair?

The LightRay UV system offers several advantages:

  • Minimal Disruption: Repairs are made without digging up your yard or tearing out walls.

  • Speed and Efficiency: The process is completed in a fraction of the time compared to traditional methods.

  • Advanced Technology: Provides long-lasting and reliable results using the latest in pipe repair technology.

Gold Seal Plumbing is the only service plumbing company in the region offering this innovative technology.

How do I know if trenchless sewer lining is right for my situation?

Trenchless sewer lining is ideal for pipes that are structurally sound but have issues like cracks, leaks, or root intrusion. Gold Seal Plumbing offers sewer camera inspections to assess the condition of your pipes and determine the most suitable repair method. If trenchless lining is appropriate, it can save you time and money while preserving your property's landscape.
